After undergraduate and graduate degrees in Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Joel Kirsh completed Medical School at the University of Toronto and trained in Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, and Pediatric Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, followed by senior fellowships in Cardiac Critical Care and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. In 2000, Dr. Kirsh returned to SickKids and served as Head of the Arrhythmia Service between 2012 and 2017. He is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Founder and Medical Director of Camp Oki, Canada’s first summer camp for children with heart disease.

Dr. Kirsh recently announced his departure from the Hospital for Sick Children to join the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario as a Regional Supervising Coroner, where he will continue his work investigating sudden deaths.
